Privacy Policy

B64 · Version 1.0 · Effective 15 September 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how B64 — Base64 Image Converter — the Base64 image and document conversion application distributed by Mahtca Global S.R.L. through Apple's Mac App Store — handles your information. It sits alongside the Terms of Use and End User License Agreement, which control in the event of any inconsistency.

1. The short version

B64 — Base64 Image Converter does not collect anything. It has no servers that receive your content, no account system, no analytics, no advertising, no attribution or tracking components, and it trains no model on your data. Every image, PDF and Base64 payload you convert is read from your Mac, converted on your Mac, and written back to your Mac.

The app contains no networking code of its own. The only network activity associated with it is performed by Apple's own system services, to establish the state of an in-app purchase.

To remember your choices, B64 stores your preferences, a small amount of application state, a local tally of how many conversions you have run, and a record that you accepted our agreements — all on your Mac — plus a minimal convenience record of your purchase tier in your Mac's Keychain. We never see any of it.

2. Who this policy applies to

This Privacy Policy applies to the B64 — Base64 Image Converter application for macOS as distributed by Apple on the Mac App Store, and to any in-app purchase offered through it. It does not cover Apple's services (such as the App Store or your Apple Account), which are governed by Apple's own privacy policies, nor any other application or service you choose to use alongside B64.

It also applies to this website, which serves static pages and sets no cookies, runs no analytics and embeds no third-party scripts.

3. Data we collect — none

For the purposes of Apple's App Privacy framework, B64 declares Data Not Collected in every category. We do not collect contact information, health and fitness data, financial information, location, sensitive information, contacts, user content (including your images, documents and Base64 payloads), browsing or search history, identifiers, purchases, usage data, diagnostics, or anything else on servers controlled by the developer.

The information B64 stores on your own Mac, described in the next section, is not received, accessed or held by us, and is therefore not collected within the meaning of that framework.

4. What lives on your Mac

Although we collect nothing, B64 necessarily works with information that resides on your machine:

  • The files you convert. Images, PDFs and Base64 text files are read from the locations you point the app at, held in memory for the duration of the conversion, and written back only where you tell the app to write them.
  • Your preferences. Default output format, default line wrapping, whether results are copied after encoding, and whether batch exports include a checksum manifest.
  • A local usage tally. A running count of conversions and total bytes converted, shown in the sidebar and in the About pane. It exists so the app can show it to you and is reported to nobody.
  • Window and workspace state, so the app reopens as you left it.
  • A record that you accepted our agreements, and whether the welcome tour has been shown.
  • A purchase-tier record in your Mac's Keychain, so the app does not have to re-check your entitlement on every launch.

All of this can be removed at any time with Erase all app data in Settings ▸ Privacy. That clears your settings and your usage history; it does not touch your files, and it does not affect your purchase.

5. Permissions B64 requests, and why

  • Access to files and folders you choose. macOS asks for this the first time you open, drag in or save to a location. The app can read and write only where you have pointed it.
  • The clipboard, when you use Paste Image, Copy or Copy Image. The app reads the clipboard only at the moment you ask it to, and writes to it only when you ask it to.

B64 does not request access to your Photos library, your contacts, your location, your microphone or your camera, and it has no background activity.

6. What Apple may see (not us)

If you make the in-app purchase, that transaction is handled entirely by Apple. Apple receives whatever information it needs to process and record it, under Apple's own privacy policy. We receive aggregate sales reporting from Apple; we do not receive your name, your email address, your payment details or any identifier that would let us connect a purchase to a person.

Apple may also collect crash reports and usage statistics at the operating-system level, subject to the choices you have made in your own system settings. That collection is Apple's, not ours, and we see only anonymised aggregate reports if you have opted in to sharing with developers.

7. No third-party services

B64 embeds no third-party SDKs of any kind. There is no analytics library, no crash reporter of our own, no advertising identifier, no social login, no feature-flag service and no remote configuration. There is nothing in the app that phones anywhere, because there is nowhere for it to phone.

8. Privacy roles — who is responsible for what

Because we do not collect personal data, Mahtca Global S.R.L. does not act as a controller or a processor of your personal data in the course of your use of the app. You remain in sole control of the files on your Mac. Where Apple processes personal data in connection with the App Store or an in-app purchase, Apple acts as an independent controller of that data.

9. Children

B64 is a utility for converting images and documents and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect information at all.

10. International users

Because nothing is transmitted to us, there is no international transfer of your data arising from your use of B64. Your files stay on the machine you use them on.

11. Your rights, and how to exercise them

Data-protection laws including the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection in relation to personal data a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to disclose, correct, export or delete.

The data described in section 4 is on your Mac and under your control: you can inspect it, back it up, move it and delete it without asking us. Erase all app data in Settings ▸ Privacy removes the app's own records in one step.

If you believe we hold information about you, write to help@mahtca.com and we will tell you what we have, which we expect to be nothing.

12. Security

The strongest security property of B64 is architectural: your content is never transmitted, so it cannot be intercepted in transit or exposed in a breach of a service we do not operate. The app is sandboxed by macOS, distributed through the Mac App Store, and signed and notarised by Apple.

The security of the files themselves is a function of your Mac. FileVault, your account password, and where you choose to save a converted result are the controls that matter, and they are yours.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

If this policy changes we will post the updated version here with a new version number and effective date. Because the app collects nothing, any change is likely to be a clarification rather than a change in what happens to your data. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.

14. Trader information and language

Mahtca Global S.R.L. is the developer and trader of record for B64 — Base64 Image Converter. The authoritative version of this policy is the English one; any translation is provided for convenience.

Contact: help@mahtca.com.

15. App Privacy Label declaration

Our App Store privacy label declares Data Not Collected across every category, which matches the behaviour described in this document. If you find anything in the app that appears inconsistent with that declaration, please tell us at help@mahtca.com and we will correct it.
