How to save all batch results to a folder on a Mac
You can do this with B64 in one click. Here is what gets written, where, and under what names.
A batch run produces a list on screen. Saving turns it into files — all of them, in one step, into a folder that the app creates for you.
Save everything
Finish the run
Wait for scanning and conversion to complete, or press Cancel — everything already converted is still saveable.
Click the save button
It is named for the direction you are going: Export All as Base64… on an encode run, Save All to Folder… on a decode run.
Name a folder
B64 creates it and writes everything inside. Something like
/Users/you/Documents/exports/site-assets-base64/keeps a run together and findable.
What gets written
| Run | You get | Named |
|---|---|---|
| Encode | One .txt file per source | logo@2x.png → logo@2x.txt |
| Decode | One image file per payload | logo@2x.txt → logo@2x.png |
| Either, with the manifest on | A checksums.txt alongside | One line per file |
On an encode run every text file holds the result in your current output format with your current wrapping. On a decode run every image is written with the extension its bytes deserve, rather than the one a data URI claimed.
The results go into a folder that is created for the purpose, so a run cannot overwrite the sources it came from. Naming it after the date or the job is worth the two seconds.
Saving one result instead of all of them
- Right-click a row and save just that one.
- Double-click a row to open it in Encode or Decode and export it from there with a different format or different wrapping.
- Right-click also offers to reveal the source file in the Finder.
The checksum manifest
Switch it on in B64 ▸ Settings… ▸ General and every batch export carries a manifest: one line per file, with a SHA-256. It is what turns a folder of results into something you can verify later. How to create a checksum manifest.
Troubleshooting
The save button is not available
There is nothing converted yet. If every source was skipped, there are no results — check the skipped list.
Fewer files than I expected
Compare the converted count with the skipped count. Together they account for everything you added.
I wanted a different output format
Change it in Settings and run again. The format is applied as results are produced, not at save time.
Can it write into an existing folder?
The save step creates a new folder for the results, which is what stops a run from overwriting its own sources. Move the contents afterwards if you want them somewhere else.
Frequently asked questions
Where do the results go?
Into a new folder that you name and the app creates, so a run can never overwrite the sources it came from.
Are the original names kept?
Yes. An encode writes logo@2x.png as logo@2x.txt; a decode writes logo@2x.txt back as logo@2x with the extension its bytes deserve.
Can I save just one result?
Yes — right-click the row and save that one, or double-click it to open it in Encode or Decode and export it with different settings.
What is checksums.txt?
The optional manifest, one line per file with a SHA-256, switched on in Settings.
